SCREEN WORLD BORN IN1980 AND STILL GOING STRONG

The film industry has crossed a wonderful century, over a hundred years from 1896 to till date, but it a matter of regret that records, statistics and documentation on the industry is very limited. The reason for this shortcoming could be financial- the doubt in the mind of writers and publishers that these books will not command a ready market which would results in low profits, the indifference of government organizations as well as other institutions and the over powering influences of the electronic media. Whatever be the reason, Screen World has ignored all problems, not knowing what has prevented more documentation and books of statistics, and by dint of untiring labour, is now in the position of celebrating its SILVER JUBILEE. Recently Screen World has been featured double entry in the LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS. Firstly for an unbroken sequence of 28 Screen World Annuals and Hat trick of three book releases in one day on 30th April, 2003.

Apart from our most popular Annuals, Screen World Publication has also published various statistical volumes like HINDI CINEMA FILMOGRAPHY which now covers complete filmography of 100 years, all Silent and Hindi films released between 1897 to 2000 alongwith Cast, Credits, Yearwise release, Category with alphabetical index are detailed, which is revised and updated version of 80 Glorious Years of Indian Cinema.

Onwards 2000, the filmography is published in another volume "HINDI CINEMA YEAR BOOK" which has been as another "Series" to be published as an annual, Volume No-1 (2001) to Volume-6 (2006) have been already published. The contents of this annual book provides complete filmography of all released films, story, songs, events & highlights, honours and awards, debut & stardom of each year. This annual series will also keep covered other publications like 80 Glorious Years of Indian Cinema (1913-2000) & National Film Award Winners (1954-2000) annually.

Our other publication is a volume entitled NATIONAL FILM AWARD WINNERS, This is the first time that such statistics have been collected and published. The contents of this volume details, yearwise from 1953 onwards, names of all winners of National Awards in each category, including all the Dadasaheb Phalke Awardees from 1969 till the present day. Details of these Dadasaheb Phalke Awardees gives a brief resume of the person and a full filmography.
